Board Chairman of Kuwait National Fund for SMEs Development Dr. Mohammad Al-Zuhair discussed with US Under-Secretary of Commerce for International Stefan M. Selig here on Wednesday the ways to bolster up the SMEs.
The meeting was attended by US Ambassador in Kuwait Douglas A. Silliman, according to a statement by the fund.
Dr. Al-Zuhair briefed Selig, who pays his first visit to Kuwait, on the rule of the fund in promoting the culture of entrepreneurship and supporting the small and medium enterprises. As well as the new and innovative ideas to prod economic growth.
He told his guest that the fund is working with competent government and non-government organizations to share experience and solve the problems facing the SMEs, the statement said.
On his part, Selig said Kuwait is an important trade and investment partner for the US with the volume of bilateral trade almost tripling in the last decade from USD six billion in 2005 to USD 15 billion last year.
The US official added that he plans to meet Kuwaiti officials and business leaders to discuss with them the prospects of trade and investment cooperation.
